The backbone of this whole business is the product. A
product is basically which will give you thousands of $ or can make you
bankrupt. So choosing a product and right product is the main key for this
business.
Many of us don't spend a lot of time in product
selection or just trying to bypass this phase. You have to remember it is the
product that will sell it is the product that will generate income and it is
the product that will give you profit or loss. Spending some extra time to
search for a winning product is and will be your first and foremost priority.
Without the right product, you might spend a lot but will not generate a handsome
amount of profit for that you are in this business.
How to choose the right product and what is the winning
product. a right product doesn't mean your friend is manufacturing or someone
in your family is manufacturing. A winning product is that speaks for itself on
tools like JS, H10 & VL. you might have a wonderful and excellent quality
product manufactured by your friend but that product might not have any SV on
tools. you might spend a couple of hundred thousand $ for inventory but that doesn't
mean you will generate an income from that.
Similarly, a product that might have a good scope in one
country doesn't mean the same product has a scope in another country. We have
to rely on tools and it is the tools only that give you in-depth analysis while doing
your PL. For the wholesale model it is quite different you just select an already
established brand and start selling but for PL or building your own brand will
take a lot of effort, time, and right decisions.
A winning product is that will speaks for itself on
paper. A winning product will fall into criteria already established by enablers.
It's different for every market. So the question is how we'll select the
winning product.
Search Volume
if a product has a search volume that means people
are searching for that and customers have some interest in the product. without
a search volume, you cannot sell your product. You might have a very excellent
quality product but if there is no search volume how can people see your
product among millions of others. So for a winning product must have a good
search volume.
Price
the second thing to check is the price. if the price of
the product is too low means below 15$ then there will not be any profit margin
left for you because of landing cost, amazon fee, and PPC cost. The best product
will be between 15-40 $ in every market.
where most people are interested and they are spending a lot in this
price range. above 40 will have a very high investment cost and below 15 will
have a low-profit margin. well, exceptions are there but usually below 15 will not
have a very good profit margin. So choose a product wisely with at least 25%
profit margin.
Reviews
This is very important to check your competitors'
reviews. High reviews mean people have high trust volume and most sellers
will buy from the sellers who have a high reviews rate. Choosing a product
with others that have very high reviews will put you in a hot water because to
compete with them you either need a very high burning cost or to get reviews as
much as your other competitors have you need a lot of time and effort. Choose
a product that will have competitors with not a lot of reviews. Among the top
10 sorted and unsorted both at least not more than 3 sellers are more than 1000
reviews and at least 3 sellers must have around 100 reviews or less. This is
for the USA market I am talking about but you check according to your market.
BSR
Very few people pay attention to BSR. Best Seller
Rank, but it is as important as every other factor. Avg BSR of page 1 should be
between 1 - 20,000. Above this range then you have to check 2 factors either
too many new sellers are coming into this product or demand of this product is
declining. if a product has above 50,000 BSR but the rest of the data is excellent
then choose wisely and do some research. you will find either couple of sellers
just joined this product or demand is declining so both factors mean if
possible try to avoid this product because in the near future price war will start
on this product.
Size
The size of the product is also very important. Your
product should fall into either a small standard or a large standard. anything
above that either in weight or dimensions will increase amazon's fee a lot. For
large standard dimensions are 18 inches by 14 inches by 8-inch maximum and weight should
be up to 3 lbs. if your dimensions remain the same but weight increases from 3lbs,
every single pound above 3 will cost you 38 cents extra in amazon fee. If your
dimension increases by a single inch then the amazon fee will increase from 5.35 $
to 10.48 $. You have to be extra careful while choosing a product and its size.
Avg Monthly Sale
Average Monthly Sale is a total sale on the page first
divided by the number of sellers on page 1. Avg monthly sales should be above 400.
